Good idea! Here it is:
I'm rebuilding my system tonight and I bought two Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 20Gb ATA/100 hard drives that I want to put in a RAID 0 array (I have the Abit KT7-RAID motherboard). I also have a 15Gb and a 5Gb Maxtor with alot of stuff on them that I want to keep. Can I just connect the two 20Gb hard drives in the RAID on the ATA/100 cable and then connect the other two drives (and my dvd-rom and my cdr) to the regular EIDE port? Or do I need to do something funky to get it to
work, or can it work at all? Also I think I need to set both 20Gb hard drives to master if they're going to be in the RAID array (at least that's what Abit's manual seems to say) but what should I set the other hard drives to if they're going to be plugged into the same EIDE port on the motherboard? The same goes for the cd drives, what about them? And as far as formatting goes, when I'm ready to do it do I need to format each drive seperately or will the system see the RAID as one
drive (C: i suppose)? As you can see this is the first time that I'm navigating the RAID waters so any help I get will be much appreciated.
Thanks
