RAID question

Hello,

Is there a way to create a single RAID array across multiple RAID cards?

I have two matching RAID cards with six matching SSDs. What I want to do is put three SSDs on each card and create a single RAID-0 array using all six drives. I've been googling it but I can't find a way to do it.

Yes and no.
that is physically impossible, unless the two raid cards were meant to operate that way.
However you can turn off the raid function and just have those cards act as simple SATA cards. then use your operating system to do operating system raid0 across all 6 cards...

This will also be HORRENDOUSLY unwise. You are practically guaranteed to lose all your data.

I found out that it takes four of my intel X25-E on RAID0 to reach the 830MB/s limit of my Areca 1231ML. Adding more drives does not make any difference. So I figured if I could put three drives on two cards and make a single array it would be something like 1.4GB/s

If one drive has a problem you lose the entire array.

Perhaps she is more concerned with performance than data loss. she probably(or should) has a way of backing up important data. anyways, what taltamir is pretty much it. BUT...you may want to check if you can find benchmarks between software raid, and having six of your SSD's on one card in a real raid. The software raid might not improve performance after all. All I can say is do research, or, if you are feeling adventurous, try it yourself in different tests and come back to us.

RAID0 requires almost 0 CPU time, the increase in speed will be almost exactly the same.
