So im looking to do a rId setup and right now i have a samsung F3. Since seagate bought the samsung drives would i be able to setup a raid with the samsung and wd drive togethet? If so which wd would i have to get or would i be stuck with going with the seagate branded samsungs?

The specs on the drives doesn't affect whether you can do RAID or not. Technically, you could connect an ssd with hdd in a raid setup if you wanted to.
The specs can make a difference with performance, so you usually want to use the same drives so you can better predict what is going on.
Most hdds are close enough in performance that as long as you match the size, you will be fine.

keep spec's as similar as possible between the 2 drives(capacity, spindle speeds, DRAM cache size, etc) and you should be just fine without much performance being left on the table.
