RAID OS Installation

Well I have everything set up in my new system, but I can't install the OS. I've never set up a RAID before. I created the array as per the instructions using the BIOS utility (I'm using the ABiT KR7A-RAID with its Highpoint controller) and booted the Win2k CD. When I try to install, though, it tells me that it can't find a hard drive. Am I missing a step? Do I need to format the array somehow? Thanks in advance.

You hit F6 and installed the drivers when you needed to right?

Make sure you hit F6 right at the beginning of the Win2k install so you can install the RAID drivers, but if that doesn't work, you might have to format in advance with the /z:[block size] switch.

I have no idea why or even what that switch does, but the dos command would be something like:

format c: /z:64

if you use a 64k stripe size on your RAID setup.

Like I said, I don't know why that switch worked, but it did when I was able to install Win9x. I had been getting some really weird errors. I've never had problems with Win2k/Xp, however.

In bios(when it posts) you will see it look for drives right after it looks at ide drives and finds your Cdrom.(I assume youhave the IDE drives installed in the propper ide slots.) Hit control H and thattakes you to the bios screen to set up the kind of raid you want. That must be done first.

After that is completed, you boot from W2K CD and the first thing that happens is it asks for you to hit f6 if you need a scci controller. Hit it.you need it. You should have a floppy called hotrod 100 or something. That is the floppy you will use when prompted in the W2K set up. F6 must be hit at the approriate time,or it will not install on Raid. It will fail every time.
