Wanted to run this by the members here :

Interested in a solid, fast and stable Raid Motherboard for use of 2 60gb maxtor 7200 ata 133 hard drives. Will have an AMD 1900+
and have some interest in the Soyo Dragon+ based on the chipset and other features. Question is: Do I lose the 133/mb feature of the drives if I use Raid 0 and the the drvies revert to ata 100/mb or can I maintain the speed with 133/mb ata with the pci card.

Thanks for comments and any suggestions

Last I've heard the Dragon Plus is ATA100 on all channels, so yes your drives will run at ATA100.
That isn't going to make a noticable difference though.

There are some other mobos around with RAID and ATA133 such as the Abit KR7A-133, Iwill XP333-R (Raid channels only), and a few others.

I wouldn't worry too much about which board you pick. As long as it's an ATA 100 board (any recent board is) you won't have any probs. Or notice any difference, either.

Currently, there's no IDE drive out that can even reach a 100mb/s (ATA100) transfer rate. Even with a RAID0 setup, I'm only getting 55mb/s...far from ATA100 and even farther from ATA133.

Granted an ATA133 mobo is more "future proof" but by the time HDs are actually transferring at 133mb/s, your mobo will be long obsolete anyway! :) Just get a mobo that has the features you need and you'll be happy. Now, go forth and do great things.
