Just put together (as a newbie) the following:

Asus A8N-Premium MB
250G WD SATAII HD
Non-RAID set-up
Win XP Pro

I think I have a simple problem. When I go to Device Manager, I see a yellow question mark beside the RAID Controller. I do not have this set-up as RAID and therefore do not need a driver. How to eliminate this issue? Do I simply go into the Asus BIOS somehwere to indicate a non-RAID set-up and therefore do not look for a driver?

Second question is how to add an older (3 year) 60g Maxtor hard drive as a slave (again non-RAID, I guess)?

1. To eliminate the Yellow Question mark go to ASUS and download the driver. after you install it the question mark will go away. It doesn't matter if you are setting up raid or not. its just saying you have hardware not installed.

2. Add the hard drive like you would any other device. check the jumper settings to make sure it will work with what your plugging it into. IE: if its ide it will either need to be set as Master, Slave, Cable Select, Or Single Drive depending on what else you have hooked up on that channel and motherboard requirements.

Ok, I installed the driver and the yellow question mark is gone. However I also had to install Silicon Image raid software. Now every time I boot up, the software starts. I see no way of making it not start up. Any ideas?
