Im going to buy a new HD and was wondering if i could put my Quantum AS 40G with a Maxtor 60G on a RAID together, or if i need the same HD... Is a RAID worth it cause i dont have anymore IDE channels so I either buy a RAID card or a IDE card....

Thnx

For RAID, it is best if the drives are identical. Or, at the very least, of the same capacity. Say, you have a 40 GB drive and a 60 GB drive. Regardless of the RAID level, it will use only 40 GB from the 60 GB drive. Thus, the other 20 GB will be gone to waste.

Should I buy an other Quantum AS or should I buy the new Maxtor 40G (ATA133) which is the same price even if the drives are not completely the same...

Thnx
