Raid Controller Recommendation

Hello,

I'm looking for a raid controller that has 2xSATAII internal ports and uses PCI slot.
The motherboard is a foxconn 865GV7MC-ES. This is for a raid 1.

I have gone to newegg and read reviews on promise controllers but i'm not convinced.

I'm trying to stay under $50.

Any help appreciated.

I can give u my 10 dollar raid 1 card... it doesn't work most of the time.. but thats why its under 50..

I only use Areca for sata.. and lsi for scsi/sas..

Promise, 3Ware, silicon image, adaptec should be okay for raid 1.. dont expect too much..

i c...so ignoring price...the list of reliable makers i guess increases.
Any suggestions when ignoring the price?

I have used a Broadcom RAIDCore 8-port SATA controller, a Highpoint 8-port IDE controller, and the one I have now--a Areca ARC-1220 RAID controller. The first two were PCI-X and the one i have now is PCIe 8X. I didn't care for the Highpoint all that much, but the Broadcom is nice, and I have no complaints about the Areca thus far.
