I'm looking at buying the Microstar 815EP Pro-R for a friend that wants a new computer. I was showing him some of his options when he asked something I had never thought of....does the raid controller on boards that have it also support ATA66/100 or do only the normal IDE controllers support ATA 66/100? I have to admit that I'm stumped. Anyone know?

Thanks!!!

AFAIK, the RAID controllers don't necessarily have to be used for RAID, and support normal IDE devices just fine.

I understand that they don't have to be used in a RAID config but do they support ATA 66/100? I've been surfing since he asked me and have yet to find any clear answer on the issue.

Ok...just found some information on Microstar's site that cleared it up. Stupid me was wanting to treat the 3rd & 4th IDE connections differently than 1&2. Of course all 4 support ATA 66/100.

Ok...feel free to slap me around now.
