RAID 5

I want to built a RAID 5 array and have 3x 400GB drives right now. Can i add a 4th drive and have it be rebuilt without data loss? Also whats the max amount of drives the single array can support? I'm going to be using Windows XP dynamic disk Raid.

It can be done if your raid controler supports online expansion typicaly only very expensive hardware based controlers do this.

I have a PCI-X Broadcom BC4852 RAID controller, and I've done this several times, transforming the array to one with more hds in the RAID 5 array. I have not heard anything about online capacity expansion on software bsaed RAID arrays however.
