Ok well i just got another IBM 75GXP 45gig as a mate for my other one and i install it setup the raid all is good and the first time i ran the sisoft test it worked fine but reported my drive as being a tad slower then a 2x RAID ATA66 rig so that bothered me. Rebooted and ran the test again and it locked up. Rebooted ran the test again it locked up. now i am worried. what could be the problem?

my rig

***Edit

I been doing some more reading and some places say Cable Select drasticlly increase performance others say that the jumpers should be set to master on both drives. which is it?

if you have a via chipset, you sandra score will probably be lower than what is shown because via is incompetent with PCI latency (as well as USB, but that's another story). The test does stress your drives, which could easily cause a lockup. I myself had considerably problems with 60GXP drives in RAID in win2k. So much so that I abandoned RAID all together. In my case i believe it was due to MSI being a sh*tty company who aperently provide sh*tty RAID on their boards, but you have a different board. I would really start to worry if you get lockups in regular apps and data corruption as I did.
