Viper. That system is nothing like a home setup. We have something similar in our organization as well.
You have a home user that is possibly working with a 2GB file...maybe more maybe less. That file is loaded into memory from disk. You need enough of the former with a fast enough latter to work well.
The system you're referring to already has the raw video within the storage system and the tools and workflow used to edit are more than likely vastly different. Home users don't edit like that where they stream the video from another location...it's all local within memory.
