Can one set up RAID 1 on a system while keeping the current 'C' drive going and then mirror the 'C' drive to the Raid drive and then let them take over and remove the old 'C' drive? Assuming this makes any sense.

I'm trying to avoid setting up Raid and then having to reload everything again.

Well Lunar, I'd say you'd have to install the current C drive in the RAID IDE and set the RAID controller to run as -0 or -1 or whatever. If it is -1 then when you insert the second (at least larger) hard drive it will mirror itself on the new drive. You can repeat this pulling by out the original (old regular IDE C hard drive) and inserting another empty hard drive into the RAID IDE and then you would have the original C hard drive and be running RAID. If you wanted at some point to deselect RAID and just run like a non RAID system you could reinsert the old C hard drive in the normal IDE (or anyone of the other two previous RAID hard drives) and run as before you ventured into RAID.

I think this will work Lunar, maybe someone else will concur.. maybe not.. we'll see in any event..
