I have 2 disks that were in RAID-1 (mirroring).

I disconnected the 2 disks from power, reformatted the computer, and now want to re-establish the RAID-1 array.

If I do the following, will I get the RAID-1 array functioning again with NO loss of data?:

1. Turn off computer.
2. Re-enable the SATA RAID chip in BIOS.
3. Turn on computer.
4. Install Intel Application Accelerator RAID Edition.
5. Turn off computer.
3. Connect 2 disks back to power.
4. Turn on computer.
5. Re-establish RAID-1 array using Intel Application Accelerator RAID Edition.

Ok well I took a huge risk and I'm doing it now.

I did 1 disk at a time. First I plugged one into power, so I had a degraded state (1 disk "missing"). I then shut down, connected the other to power as well, and booted up again. Still reported "degraded" and is not rebuilding.

My data still seems to be accessible, so I assume this means it is writing to the drive I plugged in 2nd, even though it is writing in duplicate data.

I hope?

You should be able to to plug the two drives back in and rebuild the array (like initialize, not blow out and rebuild) and it should work.
The way RAID 1 works is by writing to two drives at the same time in case of drive failure it can keep on going. In your case, it may still work even if the second drive is not correctly setup. So you should be sure that you see both drives i the array in the raid utility tool.
