RAID 1 Laptop for under $1300

Basically I just need this to backup (RAID 1) customer data "on the go" when entering their information in Quickbooks 2007 Retail edition. I'll also be backing up select files in Quickbooks at the end of the day... but I just want the peace of mind knowing that if my primary HD goes down... I have my secondary to kick in without disrupting my current flow of business at the time of working with the client.

Anyways... here is what I have for RAID 1 setup. Prices include s/h costs.
Anybody know if a M570u is compatible with a cheaper CPU. I think the T5500 is overkill for what I need it to do. It would be great to install something in the $100 or less range.

$ 899 CLEVO - M570u Barebones ( RjTech.com)
$ 202 INTEL T5500 Merom 1.66GHz (NewEgg.com)
$ 62 512MB Ram (NewEgg.com)
$ 110 2x40GB Hard Drives 5400rpm (NewEgg.com)

$ 1273

I was going to suggest an HP 8235nr, I have one and it has a RAID 0 setup with 2 100GB drives, but I can't seem to find any for sale anywhere. I got mine at BB a few months ago, it was about $1450 then so it should be below $1300 by now.

I think it can do RAID 1 but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks for the tip. I will do an Ebay / Google search and see if anything turns up. I'm not 100% sure but I think I can upgrade the video from the default ATI x1600 to a 7800gs. The only game that I might play is Age of Mythology. The specs I listed should be fine for that game. It's just to kill time once in a blue moon.

I still have a few weeks to research better options... if any. But I will look into the HP. Thanks. If you stumble across any other RAID 0 or RAID 1 Laptops under $1500 please let me know in the next few weeks.

I'll download the manual for the HP and see if it allows a RAID 1 option in the BIOS. It should...

I did all that, searching ebay and google and looking in the HP manuals and couldn't find any for sale or details on whether RAID 1 is possible. But good luck with that.

I see that HP's new laptops Pavilion dv9000t series can do RAID 0 as well.
HP dv9000t series

Let me see if Best Buy has any on display. With luck they havent password protected the BIOS's on them... or I can always ask the mighty "Geek Squad" if they can enter it for me.

You've gotta be kidding, you think the geek squad knows what a BIOS is? You must have a different kind of geek squad than I have around here.

Well I went to Best Buy... they didnt have the BIOS password protected. There was nothing listed concerning ANY type of RAID.... looks like I'm back to Plan A and buying the CLEVO. I still have until DEC to figure out what I want.
