RAID 0, with additional HD

I am considering a RAID 0 setup on a new Rig I'm building, but I also want to have a 3rd HD to boot from. Is it possible to have the reg. HD to boot the OS from, and then use the RAID system to do all the saving to? Would this setup be difficult? I am interested in the performance of RAID, but I still want the stability of a HD with all the OS and important setup stuff on it. Is this possible?

Not a problem...just set to MoBo to Boot from the IDE HD an have the RAID enabled=Bingo 😉...I would back-up my RAID regularly if that's where your going to save your stuffs

That is how my current system is setup. The OS and all the setup stuff are on one drive and I run everything that can use some increased speed on the RAID 0 (games, multimedia, non critical programs, etc). This setup is easier than setting up the OS on the RAID array and much safer. Disable RAID in bios and install OS normally on the boot drive. Connect the extra drive and enable RAID in bios, stripe the drive, and install the drivers when prompted when windows starts up. Partion and format and your ready to go. Now if something happens to the array at least you can still boot up and try to fix it or get help.

Great, I appreciate the help. I'm building my 1st PC, but alot of the stuff I know. RAID is kinda still Greek to me, but I'm catching on to it. On a completely different topic, does anyone know when the P4 2.8 800FSB are supposed to be on the street?
