Raid 0 - Disk boot failure

I'm beginning to wonder if running a Raid-0 system is even worth the hassle. I was finally transferred back to my regular office after a year and am in the midst of unpacking. I had my system up and running when my wife kicked the air conditioner on. Normally, this isn't a problem. However, I didn't have my U.P.S. installed yet and the power drain was enough to cause the computer to reboot. Again, normally this isn't a problem but it was in the middle of booting up. Now I'm getting a Disk Boot Failure error at bootup. Yay. 🙁 The Highpoint controller still sees both drives as in a Raid configuration, but some boot information must've been lost.

Could somebody jot down the best way to get my system back up and running without data loss? Would the Windows XP CD Restore function work? Or am I going to have to boot into DOS and run some program?

I'll REALLY appreciate any help I can get on this. In fact, I think I'll pick up a 3rd 20 gig drive in the near future and run Raid 0+1 to prevent this from happening ever again.

Ok, I just tried using the XP CD Recovery Console after specifying and supplying the HPT374 Raid driver. As I guessed, it was of absolutely no use. It gave me an extremely helpful "Hardware Malfunction Call your hardware vendor for support *** The system has halted ***" message.

Wonderful, just wonderful.

BTDT. I lost a RAID 0 array to one of my 60GXP drives failing. 🙁

No, it's not worth the hassle as seek times are still slow.
