shopped today and got Newman's Own... cant buy sauce made from tomato paste (classico included).. yuck

Homemade isn't such a dramatic step above decent store bought sauce. For the time & effort it takes, if your grandma isn't spending every minute of every day keeping you stocked, it's not worth the effort.

I actually avoid both of the products in the poll and buy virtually any of the others, Classico, Newman's Own, ect...

classico four cheese = yum

but usually I make it with hunts/contadina tomato paste and a packet of mccormick.

It takes minimal effort and little time to make it at home. You just need to make a big batch and freeze any excess in the freezer. It easily stores for up to 6 months.

I handcrush all tomatoes for my sauce. Wouldn't have it any other way. I know exactly what's in my sauce. Do you?

prego FTW, and its cheaper to start with a prego base and mess with it than it is to make your own

home made only.. and we call it gravy, not sauce and macaroni, not pasta (family preference)

one time i was telling my grandpa how i had store bought gravy... he was not happy

Classico is pretty good straight up, but I always prefer to use any canned sauce as a replacement for tomatoes in my homemade sauce rather than straight from the can/jar/bottle. The problem with canned sauce is that the flavour is too consistent, I prefer each bite to be somewhat different, tomatoey, meaty, bell peppery, cheezy, etc, almost impossible from canned sauce.
