Thanks for the link. I like his down to earth conclusion.
It's not enough for me to upgrade but when R600 is out, I'm gonna be there ready to do Crossfire from day 1 ;) -- if G80 doesn't trump it, that is :D

one thing i noticed through out most of the graphs where that when comparing a...

x1950xtx vs 7900gtx

...is that the 7900gtx takes a much larger performance hit when AA/AF is enabled when the cards in a single GPU setup.

on the other when hand, when you have these two cards in SLI/XFIRE it seems as though the x1950xtx takes the larger hit.

another thing to note...how come the fps goes up on SLId 7900gtxs when AA is enabled on BF2?

"Personally, I?m most impressed with the X1900 XT 256MB. Yeah I know, I didn?t have a 7900 GT to compare with so maybe my POV is off, and yeah the 7950 GT is really close now too which should make things really interesting, but damn that?s nice performance from a $279 card don?t you think? It has all the same features as the X1950, enough pop to let you play today?s most demanding games, and the price won?t make you feel too guilty about sticking it on eBay when the time comes to upgrade to the true next-generation of graphics cards. Good stuff if you ask me."

there you have it folks ... go buy a X1900XT for $279 and spend the rest on your wife/gf/partner or what ever makes you happy

Or save even more and get a 7900GT, XT's are now $350 on newegg.

I dont know about 7950GT. The 7900GTO sounds more interesting.

7900GTO is clocked at 650mhz core and 1320 on memory with 512mb GDDR3 ram. Dual Slot cooler same as the GTX. So i have no idea what Nvidia is up to.

199 pounds in OC.uk

I guess NV is trying to clear off all the G71 cores.

On the topic, the X1900XT 256mb is a killer card. Its performance is close to a 7900GTX!
But some of knew that most X1900XT already rivaled the GTX in performance!! For a mere 279 dollars, this card is too good to be missed out. It looks like the X1900XT 256 will be abit faster than the 7950GT 512mb.

The rage3d review also shows that SLi is much more efficent. Its interesting that 7900GTX SLi still matches the X1950XTX crossfire.

Its strange to see rage3d using 91.33 beta!?!?!?
When theres 91.47 WHQL with reported performance increases. (the 91.48 WHQL is also around somewhere).

Interesting. It shows that an x1950xtx is typically within about 10 frames of the 7950GX2, (min frames unknown.) Not bad at all

uh...yeah they do, check the graphs.

the green bar clearly rises

No

they

don't

The only instance where they rise is at 1280x1024 and the increase is .9 frames--which just goes to show that at that resolution and with that level of AA, two 7900GTX's haven't even stretched their legs yet. Once you look at 99% of the rest of the graph, you will find see that the green bars for BF2 steadily drop as the settings and resolutions increase, just like all of the others.

Whether you get paid or not does not detract from the fact that you sound like a salesman.

Of course, tuteja1986 sounded like an advertisment as well, but I think most would agree with him in that the X1900XT 256 MB is going to be the king of the mid-range segment.

IMO, I wouldn't get a 7900GT after their faulty releases and still occuring shotyness. Some have gone through five of them and still hasn't had luck. 5 of them:

Link

I am still having problems with the 7900GT. This is my 5th card so I filed with the BBB and EVGA called a few days later offering me the ability to Step-Up (my card is months out of the 90 period)

So for $10 it makes sense to me.

A 7900GTX or 7950GX2 make no sense as DX10 is around the corner anyway... so C2D E6600 (maybe quad core) and DX10 are in my future...

hate to blow your ad campaign, but he's talking a 256mb XT for < $300, not current 512mb for $350 (actually they can be found for about $330)

the "all the same features as the x1950" statement would seem to be incorrect, or at the least misleading as the 256mb x1900xt doesn't have the new (quieter) coolor or the gddr4...

still, good performance for the $

what i also found interesting is the x1800xt is for the most part faster than the x1900gt and only a couple fps slower than the x1900xt 256mb. the x1900xt isn't much better than that in the games listed, so if you can get an x1800xt 512mb on the cheap that's still and excellent card (was comparing 4xaa/16xaf).

So then why would you argue about me recommending a card that you can actually buy for a good price, over a card that you can not buy anywhere? Not too mention that when you can (some day) you have no idea of it's actual cost?

Oh sh!t Pwned!!! Hehehe, j/k wreckage. I didn't think the card was for sale either. It doesn't say the card is for preorder/outofstock so maybe you can actually buy it.

Thanks for the link Shadow.

Yeah, eWiz has a habit of doing this. I could not find info on stock or ship date. I have never purchased anything from them so I can not comment on their service.

ewiz is pretty good. They used to be called knowledge something or other about 3 years back, and even then they were pretty good. I've purchased several things from them over the years and aside from their UPS ground service actually being on the ground and thus taking forever I haven't had a problem. Thats a hell of a nice deal...to bad I'm not really interested in 256mb cards these days.

because your reply was specifically in response to a quote on the upcoming x1900xt, and you twisted it around by stating they were $350, and 7900gt's were cheaper, when in fact the subject was about the upcoming 256mb xt all along...

basically you trolled and and changed the subject and misrepresented the facts -- you jumped in quoting a price on a different card than what was being talked about in an attempt to make your product look better by making the 256mb 1900xt appear to cost more than it actually did. in fact, the price you quoted on the current 512mb x1900xt was even high...

does that make it clear?
