Rage 2

Looks nice and likely it will be better than the 1st but not another post apocalyptic world. We need more futuristic world like Cyberpunk 2077.

When is it coming out?

I nearly forgot about the original. So much potential but ultimately not that fun. I'm not sure if I even finished it...

Now if it is more free roam than the previous game it could be kind of cool, but we already have Fallout among other titles.

or Mad Max

I vaguely remember the AI being quite good in the first game but the PC version had some wonky texture issues and after I finally got that out of the way I didn't actually enjoy the game much. from the outside looking in, it seemed like a much bigger game than what it actually turned out to be.

The texture issues effected cards with smaller amounts of vram because of the giant ultra textures that were used. At the time most nVidia cards only had 1-1.5GB of VRAM, which wasn't really enough. A few months after it came out the HD7950/7970 came out with 3GB of VRAM, which was finally enough to prevent the texture issues.

Yeah I remember they had something in the game that allowed nvidia cards to stream the textures in if I’m not mistaken. I also remember complaints about the hard cap of 60fps.

I don't remember what card I was using at the time, most likely a 1GB HD 5870 though before moving to a 7970 the following year.

I vaguely recall Carmack being quite upset about the issues at launch but they were pretty quick to get it sorted out for most people. The game did have some really neat elements but it was eventually overshadowed by much of what was released in 2012, like Borderlands 2 and Dishonored.

I enjoyed the first one, will pick this up for sure. Looks like they took the first one, added in a lil' more Mad Max, a heaping of Borderlands, some FO universe, maybe a dash or two of Warhammer. Looks like a blast.

I like the 1st one. Sure it had some bugs and graphical issues but it got sorted out.

Plus it had John friggin Goodman in it as a voice actor. Bring the man back. Love him...

I enjoyed the first Rage, the story might have been pretty terrible but the gunplay felt good and there were some cool guns/upgrades you could get. I remember the animation for characters being really good for the time too, better than most things I had played before. The ending came out of nowhere for that game, felt like they just ran out of money and decided to run a canned cinematic after a mission.

What was it a 50 GB install too? I bet Rage 2 will be 200GB install lol

Steam says about 22GB if I install it now. I think I remember there being talk of an HD texture pack or something but it never came out because no GPU would be able to handle the textures. I bet they could now with 8GB+ cards.

the textures looked amazin guntil you walked up to a thing and it never updated the total s then it looked like 1998.

After watching the trailer it was more of a Mad Max to me. Almost similar ambience little bit tweak in technology and gameplay was more or less like Doom.

Definitely looks sweet. I liked the first one a lot (though I have the usual complaint... the ending was way too abrupt).

It does look fun enough. I'm genuinely interested now. I'll keep an eye on it, I still want to see more actual gameplay.
