Just like so many others (Bonds, McGwire, etc), it's OBVIOUS that he was using. They all went from normal looking guys to humongous goliaths in one season it seemed. People their age do NOT do that.

Too bad he can speak English. Otherwise he can claim that he no espikita and didn't understand the policy like the other foreigners who have been caught so far.

😀

These penalties are so light the players probably dont care. 10 games for using an illegal drug? Christ. That's nothing.

Either way he still was the one hitting the ball not the steroids. Its not like steroids is magic and you'll suddenly get huge and strong you still have to put in the work, rest, and food.Still not allowed though so he screwed up there.

That's just the immediate punishment. This definitely is going to have long-term repercussions for his career also.

Look at Palmeiros numbers before Canseco arrived with the Rangers

1986 73 AB 3 HR
1987 221 AB 14 HR
1988 580 AB 8 HR
1989 559 AB 8 HR
1990 598 AB 14 HR
1991 631 AB 26 HR
1992 608 AB 22 HR (Canseco came at the end of this season)

Canseco is now with the Rangers

1993 597 AB 37 HR
1994 436 AB 23 HR (Palmeiro only played in 111 games this season)
1995 554 AB 39 HR
1996 626 AB 39 HR
1997 614 AB 38 HR
1998 619 AB 43 HR
1999 565 AB 47 HR
2000 565 AB 39 HR
2001 600 AB 47 HR
2002 546 AB 43 HR
2003 561 AB 38 HR
2004 550 AB 23 HR (by this season he is old so you see his power numbers dropping)

Hmm, it is funny looking at his power numbers before and after he became teamates with Canseco.

3 strikes and it's a lifetime ban.

It's not 3 strikes and you're out right now. That's what they're aiming for.

steroids = more strength = quicker swing through the zone = more selective with pitches since you can wait longer... (not to mention bat speed = harder hits)

game of inches, game of seconds.

it's on CNNSI now

'In a prepared statement, Palmeiro said he could not explain how the steroids got into his body. "I have never intentionally used steroids. Never. Ever. Period," he said.'

yeah, and the 'Roid molecules just happened to be airbourne and hitched a ride up his nostrils...

The two people who have been caught both don't know how steroids got into their system 😛 There must be a water bottle bandit out there spiking water bottles with performance enhancing drugs! :disgust:

If he was on an androgenic steroid yes he would have increased strength but anabolics are all about packing mass.Regardless you still got to put the hard work to get it done.I don't think anyone here can have an increase in strength and mass by posting all day on AT and jabbing needles and pills in their body.🙂

But doesnt the increased strength give him an unfair advantage over other players who are not taking steriods? What about the pitchers? Should they take roids so they can throw the ball harder inorder to keep pace with the juiced up hitters? How about players who arent taking roids yet are great players in their own right (arod, pujols, ortiz, etc.) What kind of numbers can they put up if they were using steriods? 60Hrs? 70? I guess they will never know...

I'll have to try & get back to reading Canseco's book - I bought it when it was released, but it's just so painful, Canseco is a terrible writer.

Yes I said it was illegal in the game so he screwed up but it really isn't a big deal except for the 17 year old doing it cause he is a dumba$$.Pitchers don't need roids unless they want to stop being able to pitch properly due to increase in mass which is going to throw off their pitching style.I'm not saying steroids in Baseball is good am just saying its not an evil thing. This story will be used to bash steroids without proper understanding.

Still how do we know arod, pujols, ortiz don't use on the offseason only.....

I'm sure it was mentioned, but I don't think this means its steroids. It could be roids, it could be something else. Second, there are false positives. I just don't think Raffy is that dumb. He knew he was gonna be tested. Or maybe he really is an idiot.
