Raedon 9000 and pro at newegg 79/99 is this hot

It's basically compares to the 8500LE with some advanced features, and since my 8500le allways benched in line with a GF3 ti 500, I'd say that yes it's better, probably around the same speed, but with better IQ and DX9 compliant.

The 9000/Pro cards are slower than the 64 MB 8500LE cards and they are DX8.1 compliant.

Does anyone know why all the review sites won't compare the Geforce 3 ti200, Geforce3, and Geforce 3 ti500 with the radeon 9000 and 9000 pro?
Is that part of the agreement the reviews have to abide to before ati sends the a card to review?
or are those cards no longer in production, and they don't get attention?
Its really odd that the sites I have checked (anandtech,tom's, hardocp,sharky, and firing squard) does not have a direct comparison?
Just a little odd to me. When the geforce mx 420 came out, the same similar thing happened.

The 9000 is nothing more than a rebadged 8500 made with cheaper parts.

Just go to any review site, such as sharkyextremes and you will find out that the 8500 out performs the 9000

the higher numbered 9000 is purely a marketing gimmick, nothing more.

Stick with the 8000 for the best bang for the buck

It's not exactly a repackaged 8500. I would consider it another rev of the 8500. It won't do much for 3D performance, but it does have at least one new feature. You can use the pixel shaders on video.

Is it hot? It's at least warm since it'll give you the 3D performance of an 8500 or 8500LE, new features and 8.1 support at a lower price.

not hot yet, but i think that ATI will be able to/will cut the price futher than they would have been able to with the 8500. that said, wait and see if the 9000 hits ~$50-60 or better yet when/if the pro hits ~$60-70

edit: hopefully card-makers will do what they did with the GF3 Ti200 and put 4ns or faster ram on the 9000. if they did that the 9000 could become a very nice card after OCing for very little money
