RadioShack World Headquarters

I am a Structural Steel Detailer in the Dallas area. These pictures show the construction of the new world headquarters of Radio Shack corporation in Fort Worth, Texas. The project consists of three seven story office buldings, a commons building, a parking garage and a retail building. The bulding pictured is their new "Retail" building. They will use it as a fancy showroom for their products.

I take great pride in this project because I actually modeled this building in 3d, produced the shop drawings, and helped the shop workers lay out the steel. The steel was fabricated in our shop, shipped for sandblasting and special priming, and shipped to the jobsite. It still needs to be touch up primed and then it will receive its finish coating.

This building will have very few typical walls. For the most part it will have courtain wall glass systems and most of the steel will be architecturally exposed.

If you guys are interested in seeing pictures of this building when it is completed, I will gladly post them here.

How interesting...the building seems to...resemble...a AA battery? And it's asking for my phone number?

Typical Radio Shack. 😛

Very nice.
I used to be in the Radio Shack organization as a dealer.
Visited headquarters in 1986 and it sure didn't look anything like that.
Business is obviously good.

Also, are you rollin in the dough?

Although I have a masters degree in information systems....
interestingly I make very decent money detailing steel

by the way... i'm 24 years old

Hey FrankSaucedo is there a water feature there, because I think my company is involved with the water feature design.

I don't know much about the project, because i'm not part of the team on it, but it seem very interesting with a runnel running down to different levels.

That's awesome man!

I'd love to be involved with stuff like this. It would be extremely gratifying to see your work in the real world.

I have added new pictures of the rest of the campus.. I had nothing to do with the detailing/construction of any of the buildings other than the retail.

edit: very nice work

No, the Tandy Center is still standing. RadioShack HQ will start moving into the new buildings in Sept 2004. However the buildings (two towers and tech center) are already sold/leased to a firm in Dallas.

Radioshack has the absolute most annoying salesmen.

I'm here to buy a $3 adapter; get the hell off me.

Interesting.

I'm a structural engineer who's been doing this line of work for almost 3 years now. I'm the guy that gets to reject the shop drawings that FrankSaucedo produces.

MUUUHHAAAA! :evil::laugh:

I bet you guys dog cuss the structural engineers on a daily basis. 😀
