I caught the last part, and he didn't say what it was called at was at the end. He was talking about this high tech eye exam he got recently where he didn't have to do the "which is clearer a or b?" over and over and over. He said it was high tech, accurate and he loved it. I'm wondering what the hell he was talking about though. I'm due for an eye exam and this sounds great as I hate the "a or b" thing since a lot look so close to me I feel like I could be giving the wrong answer.

What was he talking about here, anyone?

Yes, my Dr offered it to me, but I chose not to do it. Basically they use a laser to measure your eye and do some refraction tests or something. Supposedly it is really quick and really accurate. Next time I'll probably try it.

I had an eye exam recently where I had to state if 1 or 2 was clearer. He probably meant that one.

I just had that one. I think it's just a powered version of the old manual deal with all the lenses to flip. Now it's just encased in plastic and controlled from a keyboard. It was faster, but the same concept.

He said he hates the 1,2 exams and this for this one all he had to do was sit there. Sounds great but I still can't find out the name of it.

You read the OP and thought that since his exampled used A, B and in your exam it was 1, 2 that your was the new type of exam? Seriously?

There is actually a test in the clinical trial phase where you choose between X and Y. Not slated for release until 2019 though.

I checked the wikipedia article for eye exam and couldn't find anything. Sounds sweet though.

So Quebert is finally getting glasses? No more "Serena Williams is attractive!" threads?

Woohoo!

Actually I already have glasses, but I read one of your lame corny ass attempts at a joke and thought it was actually funny. So I knew I needed to get my eyes re-checked.

You still have to answer 1 or 2 (or red/green in this case), whenever you use a phoropter.

It's likely wavefront using an aberrometer, which requires no patient input. They are still pretty new when it comes to a normal eye exam, so many offices won't have it. Also, not all of the lens manufacturers use it, and the lenses are a good bit more expensive than what you would normally pay.
