looks like 7600gt is better for the money and power usage and doesn't need HUGE fan / noise

I'm looking for 13x10 res only.

what do you think?

The 7600gt is close in performance to the X1800GTO and is much cheaper
so I guess it is the clear choice.

I have no idea wth ATI has been thinking. With the expection of the high end they really don't compete with Nvidia based cards.

Those GPUs are really expensive to make, especially with 256bit memory interface, AND still it has hard time trying to edge the 7600GT.

I like the cooler it is using, looks pretty efficient, well better than the previous versions anyway.

this card has roughly equal performance as that 7600 GT (in most scenarios a tad faster though) yet is 50 bucks more expensive. So that's a little bit of a bummer, but I got a hunch that the actual e- and retail prices might be better and thus even more attractive.

Looks to compete pretty well with the 7600 GT. As long as it's priced competitively with the 7600 GT it should sell fine. Similar performance + better iq and features at a similar price point would make for a killer lower end card.

ATI is retared - frames sell not IQ and they lose the bang for the buck in every segment but high-end. And thier bloated drivers combined with .net forced install turned me off probably for as long as they use it.

I use .NET anyways so that I can run Paint.NET, but CCC blows. I know that one can use ATT or similar utilities to tweak ATI cards, but the average joe buying an ATI card from Best Buy doesn't - ATI needs to understand that their choice to make CCC mandatory could actually drive away sales - if it's not already doing so, that is.

Who else here now believes that 3Dmark is as useless as can be?
The GTO scored consistently higher than the 7600GT but turned out not to be the case in actual gaming framerates.

What gives?

Now I know the average Joe Blow at BB aint gonna care about temp, heat and noise but some of us do. Then consider the fact that 7600GT wins some and loses others in comparison to the 1800GTO.

Now compare Heat, Noise and Power useage and according to Guru3D, Anand..etc and the 7600GT would be my choice for a midrange card

I wish NV partners use NV silencer type coolings on there card. Less of a fuss to go and buy one. Another reason why HIS is good :)

Stock for Stock and if priced very close i'd probably take the X1800GTO, more so if it can unlock. Overclocked it didn't provide as big a bost as I thought it would, so if it doesn't unlock i'd be leaning more towards 7600GT on overclocking.

If they can price it close to the 7600GT, joe "dell" public will probably pick up the X1800GTO.

Power consumption looks like just 20W difference & noise at just 4dBa. Temps under load look like 7600GT 73c & X1800GTO 75c, again not a big difference.

Well actually if I were to buy right now it'd be a 7600GT seeing as a quick search of the Egg, Monarch, ZZF, etc shows lots of 7600's but not any X1800GTO's.

And if the GTO sells for 250 like it's MSRPed then it's gonna get it's butt handed to it considering a 7600 can be had for $189 already.

However if the GTO unlocks.....different story
