Radeon Video Problems - Now with Images!

Downloaded the Catalyst 2.2 drivers for my Radeon 8500 and I keep getting tiny lines from top to bottom on my display. Running with the same settings from prior Catalyst drivers and had no problems.

Whenever there are transparencies my icons appear messed up. Anyone else have this?

The 2.2 Catalyst drivers seem to be especially picky about being installed fresh, I've seen a number of problems when their instlalled over top of previous driver revisions.
They work perfectly when any prior drivers are uninstalled before installation of the 2.2 Catalyst's though.

Hmm. I uninstalled the drivers, went back to pre-Catalyst and still have the problem. I disconnected and reconnected my monitor cable to the Radeon 8500. They're still there!

What should I do?

The only thing left to do is reseat the card physically and if that doesn't work, contact ATI.

I bought it only a few months ago in Jan-Feb. Am I still covered under warranty (it was retail)?

these are the ONLY drivers that I could get to work. The rest would lock me up in XP right as it would load the login screen with a black screen.

Ok, I opened up my PC, vacuumed all the dust out. Reseated the cables, Radeon card and still the lines show up!!!

In VGA compatible they don't show up which makes me wonder whether its the driver or the card is failing. It could be the card failing since with a higher graphics performance push with the correct drivers, the card just can't take it.

Someone give me some direction please!

Ok here is a image of the problem.

The left pics are from Morrowind TESCS but they show the problems I have been having in other games such as Return to Castle Wolfenstein and CnC Renegade. The polygons are clipping and these weird blue lights show up where vertexes meet.

The lower pic shows the lines that show up on my display! Someone tell me whether this is bad graphics card or a driver problem.

My Radeon 8500 pulled the same crap on me. It was my fault though, didn't install the drivers fresh. Make sure you uninstall the drivers and the ATI conrtol panel, then install the Catalyst 2.2 drivers with the most current release of the ATI control panel. This fixed it for me in Windows XP. If this doesn't work, I'd have to suggest re-installing windows or doing a repair install because its probably something wrong with your drivers and the registry. I really don't think theres anything wrong with your card. Anyways, try it and see what comes of it. Let us know.

I just wanted to know with having someone else telling me with the screenshots.

I will try to reformat and reinstall XP and see if it happens otherwise I will RMA it.

Yeah, those old drivers need to be totally gone before you install the new ones or it messes up. Ive heard this from several people on other forums having this problem.....its all been because the previous drivers weren't totally uninstalled before the installation of the new ones.
