Radeon Question

Picked up a 64Mb Radeon card today.

First off, people are right. The image quality rocks the world. This card looks better in 2D and 3D than my Geforce DDR and my older TNT2. The TNT2 even has the low pass filter mod, low pass filters removed. It is fast to boot.

Anybody out there using Radeon with Win2k and DX8.0a? My Radeon drivers are version 5.0.3035. I have a minor compatiblilty issue with NOLF. The menu textures are slightly misaligned and so are a few textures in the game itself. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the Radeon and DX8. I see that ATI has beta DX8 drivers but I have not been able to download them. Anybody know anything about this??

FYI

1 Radeon is not overclocked.
2 CPU is overclocked along with AGP bus. I clocked down, same issue.
3 I have the latest supported NOLF patch installed

If you need any other info on my system see my rigs below.

Try Rage3d.com.
Sorry just noticed they link to ATI. The ATI page is undergoing a facelift. Looks like they haven't updated the link yet.

I think www.3dchipset.com has them? And yeah, 3035 are the worse drivers ever released (oldest), and sucked with Athlon systems. Newer drivers should probably fix your problem (hopefully). =)

I found the new drivers at reatorcritical. They did not solve the problem completely, menu text is still a little jaggie. The game plays fine and so far I have only seen one graphics error at one specific point in the game. It could just be the game. I played two more levels ahead without one graphics incident.

I still cannot get over how much better things look with this card. I hope nVidia does better with NV20 in terms of image quality.

I don't know about NV20. I picked up the Radeon figuring that the NV20 will be a bigger price tag than I want to swallow this year. $500 for any video card is too much, I'm really only willing to pay $300 and under.
