To those of you who have a Radeon-based videocard AND a Trinitron monitor, are you experiencing any problems with your 2D quality? I hear there is some sort of "wave" effect.

I am not, but many others are. Check the radeon forums at rage3d, supposedly this will be fixed soon.

I have a Radeon 64mb VIVO and a Sony Trinition 300sf. No problems here ...

Well, I bought a Radeon 32DDR today that I will install tomorrow after I have backed up the important stuff on my HD (mp3z, etc). I was just wondering if everyone with a Radeon and a Trinitron monitor experiences the problem. Guess not. I will cross my fingers, and I will let everyone know how smoothly my upgrade went. Not only do I have the possibility of having the "Trinitron issue" but also the "AGP 1.0 compliant" issue; almost makes me wonder why I bought the thing, but I just couldn't resist!

I have a Diamondtron-based NEC (Mitsubishi tube), and I see the "shimmer". Supposedly there is a fix about to be released from ATI. It's not terribly noticeable unless you are very close to the monitor, and there are quite a few people not seeing it at all. It's rather odd overall.
