Radeon Overclocking without Powerstrip!!

Most people don't want all of that unneeded stuff in PS. They use it for the single purpose of adjusting the clock speed. If you don't register, you get that pop up window as well.

This is a blessing. I have been waiting for a stand-alone overclocker for a long time! I too loathe Power Strip and can't wait to get off work to try this out.

Awesome, just gotta wait for the Win2k version and perhaps integration with RadeonTweaker

I tried it out last night when I got home and it works great! I could only get my Radeon DDR to 177.5mhz without artifacts, but that gave me about 8fps in Quake 3 Demo 1.

Question: Is the core or the memory the limiting factor when overclocking Radeons? Or is it both? Would it do me any good to "silver epoxy" a blorb on the core, or do you think I will still be limited by the memory? If it is the memory, will heat sinks help? I don't understand why this card will not overclock higher when I have gotten 30mhz+ on every card I have ever owned. Thanks.

Well actually that is the Raid-On Tweaker 🙂, I use RT as it works pretty well for me in Win2k.

BlvdKing,
Adding a blue orb and ramsinks "might" allow you to overclock a bit more, but it's probably not worth the investment unless you already have the stuff to do it. I've added blue orbs and ramsinks to both my Radeons (a 64 meg retail, and an LE). I can get the LE up t 190/190 without artifacts, and the 64 meg up to around 213/213. It really comes down to the memory I think. You might get 5mhz more out of the memory if you at ram sinks. This seems to be the common stable overclock when ram sinks are added. Not too great if you ask me. The best mod for an LE in my opinion is adding a fan to the HS, and ram sinks if you don't mind spending the extra money.
