Radeon LE and Catalyst Drivers

The Radeon LE used to have Hyper-Z disabled, and maybe some other stuff I'm not aware of. Does anyone know if the new ATi Catalyst drivers enable these features by default, or does it still require some sort of registry hack?

I am still using my Radeon LE running at 180/180.

Should I use the catalyst drivers for this board?

Are there any advantages to using them?

180/180??????? That's VERY low. You can use the latest drivers with no problem, but I think you'll notice little performance boost unless you're using very old ones.

Nah,

It's not low... Default was 144 mhz... OEM was around 168 mhz and std was 184 mhz... LE's could almost always get to the std speed setting and sometimes significantly higher - like over 200

Rag3D had the Radeon LE Bios mod... Made my Radeon LE into a Radeon 7200 (166/166) Instructions were in Russian.. but somehow I made through it 😉

Before the flash I used the registry hack and O/C to 185/185 with active cooling. However overtime artifcats developed so I lowered to 166 and now use the passive heatsink.

200?? woah man I would never think about turning it up that much... well unless I had a watercool setup 😀

For the record, I installed both DX9 and the catalyst drivers.

On the Battlefield 1942 SW demo at 180/180 I was able to go to high quality and still have what appears to be good framerates.

The whitebox LE was a good card for it's time.

The catalyst drivers so far seem to be working very well. Dxdiag reports the card as a 7200.

KGB, I've had it up to 200 with just the passive heat sink but get some artifacts. I think I'll put a fan on it and see how it does.

Mine went up to 210 before it started to get artifacts, and this with a TT Blue Orb fan. Pretty good OC, about 30%.
