Radeon HD 4670 Watercooling

Hey everyone. I'm thinking about upgrading my video card, and want it to part of the water loop. Is there a recommendation as to what water block fits it fine? I e-mailed Swiftech about their MCW60, but they didn't know. So I decided to ask here. Any replies would be cool. Thanks.

Most newer waterblocks such as the Swiftech MCW60, Dtek GFX, DD Maze5 and the one listed above should work. I have my 4870 watercooled using an ancient Maze4 and it works perfectly. Why are you watercooling that card though? I don't think it needs that...unless you're going for silence.

Yeah, it was mainly for a silence thing. Actually, I've decided to go with the Sapphire HD 4830 now. So I should probably be good with the same block you have eh? Or even the MCW60.

I don't think you can even buy the block I have anymore. Definitely go with the MCW60. I think there's a revision 2 of that block ("R2") that you should get.

Is this the one you're getting?

There's no cooling on the memory. Although it's not absolutely necessary...it's better if it did have some cooling.

Here's a link to pics of where I watercooled my card...maybe give you some ideas:

Yeah, that's the one I was gonna get. But that's weird. The link you put up says that it's $130, but the link I have open says $105. And they're the same exact thing. Haha, oh well.

Anyway, thanks for helping me out. I think I'll just go with the MCW60. For the memory, some ramsinks should be good don't you think?

That's the Canadian price. Yeah some ramsinks would be fine. Make sure you use that heatsink on the VRMs too...they get very hot.

Nice job on going with the 4830.

BTW, my dual-slot sapphire 4830 idles the fan at an incredibly low speed of only 1-10% idle, so you may not even need a waterblock. Maybe if you want to OC the shit out of it, then yes i'd recommend getting one.

That's true. But I'd like to eliminate as many fans as possible from the case. I'm gonna be using a Antec P180. I'll test it out before going with a water block. I did want to overclock it some, because I've read at some places that I could get it to be somewhere near the performance of a 4850.

Though it's a bit off topic, I was wondering if anyone ever used dual monitors with the 4000 series? I've read some people having problems using it. The most common problem was using a dual display set up with the card overclocked. It crashed on a lot of people. My main purpose of getting this card is so that I can hook up the computer to my 32" LCD with the HDMI port, as the secondary monitor. And then a little gaming on the side.

I have a 22" DVI Acer AL2216Wbd and a 17" VGA (via dvi-vga adapter) Dell E177fp. No problems here. I even have the 22" three inches to the left and six inches higher and it still works my custom resolution just fine. It works well.

I also have the Antec P180. I cant hear my GPU above my Arctic Freezer 7 unless i rev it up to 70%. My case fans are always a bit louder then the 4830 as well.

Unless you go with a Zalman Reserator or a similar custom passive water cooler, you still will need fans to cool the radiator.

My previous system was all pretty much cooled by one 120mm exhaust (plus PSU fan). Scythe Ninja heatsink on the CPU and Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 on the video card. Both GPU and CPU were overclocked. GPU was an 8800 GT with a 50MHz OC and the CPU (for most of the life of the system) was an E6750 overclocked mildly to 3.2GHz.
