I play a lot of games like half-life, q3 arena, unreal, etc.. Which card would be best for my system? I was thinking maybe the radeon 32mb ddr, but which card is best, in terms of 2d and 3d performance, frame rates, graphic quality, and price?

My System:

Amd T-Bird 900mhz
128mb 133 ram
17" .24dp Monitor

This has been beaten to death at least a dozen times in the Video Cards section (and several times here)... it isn't that hard to use the SEARCH function.

if you can wait, wait, new cards will be out in like 4 months or less.

Actually with the newer drivers and hacks out there the V5 is much more favorable in comparison then it was when the reviews were made. I still wont get one though as I'm sitting out this round and living with my V3.

Why don't you guys just answer his question instead of henpecking? Geez. Every topic has been done to death. If everyone just searched for an answer to an already posted question we would never get any new material here. :) . Hrdxcrxgmrx, If you can wait a few more months you can get a better kickbutt card that will blow everything out now away. If you dont have any semi decent card now and really need one you cant go wrong with any of the recent Nvidia based cards. The radeon is getting great reviews everywhere and has even piqued my interest, so that may be a good choice for you.

the answer to this question could be drastically different in about a month with all this HSR stuff... :)

Ok, here's the deal. The human eye cannot distinguish between 60fps and 100fps(unless you are special). For that reason 60fps would be good enough for any game. Running Q3 @ 1024x768 32bit with a radeon 32MB DDR will give you 60+fps. The 2D is excellent as well as DVD playback. Tons of features make it the best all-around card available.

Now if you are one of those special people and require higher frame rates get yerself a GeForce 2 GTS, but you then sacrifice 2D quality.

Now if you want 3D quality running FSAA then go for the V5 5500. It gives decent frame rates for regular use, but FSAA is just unparallel to any other card.

The price of these cards are about the same for each card. One might be cheaper due to rebates and/or coupons or such, but they are certainly in the same range.

I prefer the Radeon myself. I'm a gamer, but 60pfs is good enough for me.

EDIT: by the way, change your freakin' name, it's annoying as hell.
