I just got an 8500DV and Im about to move into a new place, and Im thinking about getting either satellite or some digital cable deal. Im just wondering if anyone has set up an AIW with either of these services and if you can get full TIVO-like functionality with a set-top box service; IE scheduling and recording shows, or if you can only pause TV. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I currently have my 8500DV hooked to digital cable which uses the cable breakout box. The DV has to be set to channel 3 in order to work. The recording and TV on demand features work fine. The only way to schedule recording that I'm aware of would be set the AIW turner to channel 3 and set the cable box turner to the channel that you want to record. I usually don't set up more than a single recording at a time so it works fine for me.

I have the Dish Network and I to have to run from a box and either come in as a coaxial or svideo...The problem is the radeon 8500DV standard cable will only check up to channel 125 yet many of the channels in basic dishnetwork service will be beyond that...therefore the best route for use and visual clarity is to go svideo out and audio out (rca jacks or digital cable (if you are close proximity to box)) to the 8500DV...set channel to 3 and use the controller on the sat box....

If you have remote with the 8500DV then sell it as it can get you up to 30 bucks in the forums....heck you wont be able to use it so no problem unless you are thiking of pure resell or trade value later....

Heck on eof the best things is getting a PVR box and then record large block of things and then go to computer and turn on tv and then maneuver through the PVR menu with Sat controller and start just at where you want to record....While copying select Music videos I have been able to save countless hours with no need to edit any of the clips cause they start and end just where I need them to....It is beautiful!!!!

The TIVO and some of its neat functions could also due some cool stuff, but you have to pay for that service and for me my PVR was free cause of the deal I signed up for...
