My friend who I helped build his PC ordered a Sapphire 9800 np from Bananapc.com and got a 3.3 Samsung for 244 shipped.. I'll have to email him and have him try a bios flash to see if it will go to pro speeds.

I'm in Ricmond, VA and took a chance on the west end BB today. They had one left with the 180322 serial so I grabbed it and sure enough I got Samsung chips! WOOT!

Has anyone tired to overclock there card yet with any luck? I looked at the benchmarks on http://firingsquad.gamers.com/ and I am debating on overclocking because the jump in frames is not alot compaired to the 9800 pro.....

Hehe, sorry DahDee. They do have one left, but from the serial number it's likely to be Infineon memory. You could try the the southside BB.....

Here's how my card is doing so far in 3dmark 2k3, no mods have been performed hardware or software other than OCing.

Stock out of the box: 4914

400/360: 5874

Highest OC 430/360: 6064

I'm gonna try the BIOS mod to Pro now to see if I can push the memory any higher.

The West End store doesn't have that last one since I bought it tonight about 10mins before closing 🙂 Yesterday, I was going to buy the one you got when I saw the two they had on the shelf but I didn't have the cash with me. Oh well, I haven't opened this one yet but i'm expecting the Infineon chip.

I picked up on of these on Friday from Best Buy using the 10% off coupon. It is S/N 1803260179XXX, it has the infineon ram. I am running it at 412/333 with the stock bios. 3d Mark 03 is 5642 with AMD 2100 @ 2.73 Gig Via 266A chipset MB with win XP pro Not bad score, quite the upgrade from my 8500.

Update:

Just cranked it up some more 425/338 and got a score of 5763

You are getting a hell of an overclock on your infineon ram. Be happy with it. Mine is rate for 330 but cannot do it without artifacting.

BB cancelled my 9800np order today also. Seems like the next best deal is for the Sapphire 9800np at Newegg for $243 with free Fedex shipping. They just came in stock today. Not sure what RAM you would be getting. Last review is dated 9/17.

If I were you, I would get one while you can. I got the BB deal for $239 but also paid tax. The newegg deal looks good. Also, mine is the ATI branded 9800np which looks identical to the Sapphire one you linked to at newegg.
