My sister just upgraded her PSU to a Corsair VX550. See here
However, when she swapped the new PSU in (making sure to plug a molex into the 9800PRO), after a few minutes she got a blue screen of death which listed "ati2dvag" as the source of the error. When she rebooted, she got a message about the card not having power. It appears to me that the molex connector on the Corsair VX550 is larger than previous molex connectors I've seen, and it has a clip which seems to also obstruct the pins from making a full connection. I told her to break off the clip, but that didn't seem to allow for additional clearance. The fan is also not on.
About 3/4 of the way down the page, you can see the Molex connector.
here
1) Has anyone else experienced a similiar problem with the connectors on new PSU's not fitting into older video cards? Initially, the connector seems like it might fit, but it just doesn't seem to be properly situated.
2) I told her just to pick up a male-to-female molex connector, any other ideas?
3) Anyone know if the fan runs off the molex power? I'd guess there isn't much power on the AGP Bus, so I would say yes. I'm asking this because I'm worried about her card. Which leads to question 4..
4) As soon as I realized the fan was off, I told her to power down her computer immediately. This was probably less than 10m. What are the chances her videocard suffered damage?
Thanks yall!
