At my local BB, they had the BUILT BY ATI Radeon 9700 pro for 249 + tax. no rebate, nothing. Looks like they're closing them out!

Which Best Buy did you go to?

BTW, because of my screen name I just had respond to this thread based on your signature.

Yeah. Which Best Buy? I'm going to call up a few of them around here tomorrow but I think I'm still going for the 9800 non pro for $299...

That sounds about right. Best Buy is closing out the 9700 series and the 9500 series in favor of the 9800 & 9600.

They have taken the 9700 pro off their web site.

WOW! $249 is a great freakin' deal. I'm so getting one of these tomorrow because I don't think NewEgg will go this low in the next couple of months. They have it for $308 right now, and it only went down 1 dollar in the past few weeks. I just hope this deal is the same over here in Maryland.

I hope this is valid at BB's in california. I wonder if we will see a drastic reduction in price soon for the 9700's. Got to get ready for HL2 when it comes out.

then you'll just end up waiting for the 5900 fx ultras to come down in price saying just a few more months....
i picked up my built by ati 9700pro retail for around 280 after tax and shipping a few months back, and boy am i loving the card.

but in the end, your money, your decision ^^

I went to two BBs around my area, but I came up with nothing. They didn't even have the tag for it. Anyone else have any luck?

I posted this same message in the post for the 9500 Pro too....
All BB's in the Phila/southern NJ metro area have neither in stock. FYI.

How does the 9700 Pro compare to the OEM 9800, both in performance and street price?

First of all, calm down.

Second of all, BB was closing out the 9500 Pros earlier in the week. This is just a closeout.

third of all, what does closeout mean?
means they are not getting any more when they are gone?
bb emp told me he was getting the other ob 9500 pro for himself yesterday "man, that's a good price! with my discount..."

Thanks, Jadow! I picked one up at my local Circuit City on the way home from work. I called the closest Best Buy store to me and they had no stock, but they did acknowledge the $249 price. I had the sales rep check the stock at my 2nd closest store and he said they showed 3 or 4, but that I might want to call to be sure. I called the other store myself and they said they had no stock and were experiencing inventory problems - I'm not sure if this was true or if they were wanting the cards for themselves. I wrote down all the information and swung by my local Circuit City on the way home because they are always really good about pricematching - at least they have been to me. One 9700 Pro left on the shelf, so I picked it up, went to Customer Service, and explained the situation. The customer service rep disappeared into the back to call Best Buy for about 5 minutes or so and when she came back she started to ring me up, so I didn't say anything. Receipt showed $244.99 plus tax, so I signed and walked out the door with my early birthday present. W00t!:D

ARGGGHHH! I really wanted this card! I called and checked EIGHT Best Buys in my area and they have absolutely zero in stock. I'm out of luck, so I'll just keep hoping that the price will go down at NewEgg.

Scored an open box 9700pro for $229 today at my local BB. It was hidden in the cabinet at the computer counter. I spotted it through the crack in the case and asked for it. 16490 3dmarks so far.
