Hi,

Got it today.
After installing ... I had awsome 3dMark 10287
1.4 tbird - old MSI K7master
default clock settings

doubled my mark from 4900 (using Radeon 7500)

But ,

I was overclocked on my t-bird to 1533 133 x 11.5
After installing the card ... I had lockups in Q3A
So ... I reduced multiplier to 11 but still had lockups

Now Im at default again ... bummer.

I also noticed that Powerstrip wont allow those high settings mentioned during the overclocking of the gigabytes version of this card.
(I even insalled the old version of PS 3.20)

I believe ATI put a limit on the clock settings.
Or, .... is the Pro version of this card allow higher settings?

The radeonator doesnt work at all BTW.

At any rate ... the I got no great increase in 3dMarks oc'ing the card above 340.20/327.86

Why would this card hose my CPU overclock?

Don't know why, but this happened to fkloster. He sent his oem card packing and ordered a retail one.

Hi,

Installed my Abit KX7-333

This mb RAWKs !!!

I dunno wot I did to my 1.4t-bird ... wont post ... I'm usin 1.2t-bird now ...
Check out da scores ... heres my sys specs.

1.2t-bird oc'd 7x183 = 1281 @ 1.80v (1.85 actual)
PC2100 2.8V - strong and high settings by SPD

Radeon 9700 oc 340.5 / 328
(anything higher lowers 3dMark - I wonder if theres proper thermal compoud under HSF unit)
(afraid to take it off ... the HSF pins are mounted tighter than a usual HSF ... so Im stock)
(maybe there are different chips under the OEM card - any1 know yet?)

3Dmark 11,148
Sandra CPU - 3539/1761
--------- Mband - 2357/2224
--------- MMedia - 7080/7650

Just thin wot the new 2.6 AMD will do on this MB. (shutters ... maybe 22,000 3dM?)

(waitn for da 2.6)

This being a new batch of high performance cards, your overclocking will vary greatly from some people not able to oc at all, to some with outstanding heights, the reason is the tech. used in the fabrication is not perfected yet. ATI is using thier very first .13u fab. on this puppy, the reason it clobbered your sytem with the oc on your proc was probably due to the divider of your agp slot. If you have a high oc and you mobo supports it lock your agp/pci divider at 66/33, so it will run in specs.

That was a multiplier oc ... look at it again ... 133FSB

Anyway messed with setting to do performance rather than quality on 3D and GL

3dMark - 11,182

Actually, the 9700 Pro is manufactured on a 0.15um process not 0.13. Their 0.13 part will come later (supposedly not long after NV30).

MY Bad, had nv30 in the brain when I typed that. ATI is expecting November/December start up on their 0.13u fabrication processes :) NV30 isn't expected to start shipping until after Christmas, but I'm crossing my fingers for a new Christmas NV30 :p
