Radeon 9600XT : games not able to play at max resolutioN

i have an Elsa 9600XT.

i have my desktop set at 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz, which is the max my monitor can go.

when i try to play various games, they don't let me set the resolution to 1280 x 1024. the highest i get is 1280 x 960.

what's up with that? i have Catalyst 4.10 installed.

Some games don't support non-standard resolutions (like 1280x1024)

i thought 1280 x 1024 was a pretty darn standard resolution.

and all the games i've been trying to play have previously been able to play at 1280 with my old radeon 9000 pro.

which game are you talking about?
Were you able to select the 1280 x 1024 at all? if so what happed afterward, black screen, back to options, automaticaly switch to 1280 x 960, etc.
What monitor/LCD are you using? Did you reinstall the drivers/control panel after your new card?
So you changed anyother hardware besides the ATi card?

i'm running a 1700+ with 512 ram, elsa 9600XT w/ 128MB on a CTX 17" LCD, which has a max native res of 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz. this is a new system i put together, my old one died. on my old one, all the games i played at least gave me the option to go 1280 x 1024.

now, some games i play don't have a choice for 1280 x 1024.

i'll try re-installing the catalyst drivers again.

the games that don't work: Freelancer, Aliens vs. Predator 2, Call of Duty: UO

the games that DO work: World of Warcraft, Warhammer Dawn of War, Halo

Do the video drivers correctly recognize your LCD? They don't say Plug and Play monitor?

yup, display properties say CTX S762G, which is the model of my monitor.

check if you secondary display is enable or disable.

Got to your display properties and in setting, advances, Display, disable all but your LCD. Make sure your LCD is in primiary and the disable stuff is in secondary.
