i'm looking to pickup a radeon 9550 from newegg for $75 as a replacement for my current radeon 8500. looks like the best deal (as i would like something that's 128 bit). looked at 9600se's, but they're all 64bit.
has anyone used this card? what were your experiences?

thanks

I haven't heard any experiances, but i do know that it is not a very good card from a discussion about it earlier. I guess you can't get a lot for under 100 tho

was hoping to stay away from triple digits.. im on a limited budget... how come the 9550 isnt very good? it looks good from the specs... im not looking to run games at 1600x1200 or anything... just need a decent card that will run most games well at 1024x768

is it worth looking into any of the similar priced cards: 9600se, GF fx5200, 9200

thanks

It's my understanding that the Radeon 9550 cards are all scaled down 9600 cards and infact NOT based on the 9500/9700 tech. All the 9550s at newegg sport TSOP memory along with a truly sad GPU/MEM clock of 250/400. Those are the stock clocks of the 9200 cards!!! Compare with the FIC radeon 9500 pro there that benefits from a 275MHz/540MHz GPU/MEM speed. Not to mention it is a 8X1 pipe card instead of a 4X2.

How in the hell can they just add DX9.1 to a 9200 and then say it's better than a 9500? Retarded...
