Hi I just got my card in today, its the Sapphire model. Ok, heres the problem-I take out my old Gfmx, put in the Radeon and then boot [98SE] in Safe mode-uninstall nvidia stuff then reboot...First thing I notice upon rebboting is an incredibly garbled screen, if i move my cursor, a trail of garbage is left after it. Ok so I reboot again-Same problem. Reboot. This time I left my mouse alone and just used tab to navigate the found new hardware screen, it worked well considering before i couldnt make out any of the words. Now I finally got to installing the drivers-Everything appeared to be going great-they installed and i was prompted to reboot. I clicked yes. Next 98 pops up with its loading screen, all is looking well- Then out of the blue, the Monitor blinks off-the system spuds like its still running but my video just got cut! WTF. If I reset and do the safe mode-it works perfect with no bad text either. If I do a normal boot with no drivers-it works but is garbled-if i install ATI drivers I get no Picture. WTH can be causing this?

I have bios set to 128mb agp ram-I did notice that after putting the card in that for some odd reason my agp transfer setter is no longer seen in the bios, I cant even see if its at 1x or 8x. Also this board has no onboard video just so you know. Anyone have ANY advice?? Plz id appreciate it!

edit-forgot my specs :)

My first Sapphire 9500 was bad, and it sounds like yours is too. That is exactly what mine did. Do you have the extra power connecter on (looks like a floppy power connecter) ? Do you have a good power supply ? These wil also make it look the same.

Im doing a reformat now, and about xp, thats another strange problem my system has-when i bought the board it would install, but after flashing it to the most recent bios it wont install, same with 2k. pretty wierd, but 98SE isnt that bad though compared to retail 98. thanks for the help so far ill keep ya updated :)

Ok, i have a quick question here :)

I just reinstalled windows, and all is going good so far, im right about to install the video drivers, but out of caution i checked the device manger and saw in the display area that there is two display devices in it!? im betting that thats not normal, but i have to make a choice on what to do here and i want it to be the right one :)

-ok, device 1 ; is called pci display adapter [fyi-i have no onboard video and no pci cards in]-this one has no irq's assighned, but has memory addresses assighned to it
-device 2 ; standard vga display adapter, has irq 10 assighned to it and memory addresses.

Im thinking that i should stick with device 2 since it has an irq, good idea right? And that i should delete device 1, or disable it. Which would be better-to delete it or disable it?

Give me your thoughts on this!

If it's a dual display card, then you should have two devices in the Device Manager.

Should have 2 devices. I've got 2 in XP device manager a 9500pro/9700 and a 9500pro/9700 secondary.
