Radeon 9000 AIW + Linux != TV Tuner

No. And it won't work for some time.

The GATOS project is the one that makes the ati tv tuner drivers, but ati only recently (4 months ago IIRC) gave them the info they need to put something out.

From their supported cards link:

At this moment all of currently produced ATI All-in-Wonder cards use the newer Rage Theatre 200 chip which is not supported by these drivers. ATI has recently provided documentation for this chip, but it would be a while (at least 6 months) for anything usable to appear. This chip is quite powerful - but quite complex too.

The AIW radeon uses Rage Theater though and I believe it is supported

Sorry, I just noticed you have AIW 9000..which uses Theater 200..so silverpig is correct..sorry.

I hear that ati has "invested heavily in programmers for writing drivers" and we should see the results in a few months.

Like everyone else has said, look into the Gatos, project. They are your best bet, the ATI drivers are not very good and they offer only miniamlly functionality. I'm not saying this at all to discourage. I'm just saying to not worry, your card will eventually be able to work wonderfully, and sometimes even better than in Windows, but as with many things in the Open Source community, with time the support will get better. The Open source community is like wine, the older the better. 🙂

Good luck,

Thanks everyone for the information. I have tried several things to get it to work, but it looks like I am going to have to wait.
