Radeon 8500le or geforce 4 ti4200?

I vote for the radeon. Been great for everygame and dvd playback is quite nice.

<< The Geforce 4 is supposed to have improved DVD playback than older nvidia cards. >>

Will the 2D quality improve as well?

I thought it was just the gf4 mx series that added the idtc motion compensation for dvd playback not the full blown gf4 series.

Wow, that would be pretty retahded of Nvidia if they didn't incorporate better playback abilities in their fastest line of cards!! :Q

Frankly, I don't think any of us can truly say, considering not one person on these forums owns either right now. Reviews from a website are one thing, but actually owning something is a completely different experience. I say wait a while longer and find out. I'm sure a "I just got a Geforce4 TI4x00 card!!!!" and "I just got a Radeon 8500LE card!!!!" will pop up sooner or later.

well if you look at anands reviews, the 4400 is only a bit faster than the 8500 right now. and the 4200 is much slower than the 4400 due to ram speed. so i think you can get the 8500 now and it wont matter, plus you dont have to worry about 2d quality which some nvidia cards dont have.

Huh? Plenty of people own Radeon 8500LE's.

I firmly suggest you buy a Geforce card.

I own Nvidia stock. (i'm not joking)

That said, i have a Radeon card in my machine right now. I am a gaming type, and like the performance just fine, but have more of a need for 2d and multimedia quality.

Actually, 4200 is faster than either Radeon 8500 (275/275) or Ti 500, despite much lower clock. The gap will widen if FSAA is used.
