Radeon 8500DV 2D performance

Is it just me or does the 2d performance seem a lil crappy? I had a Geforce 3 before and switched to the 8500DV and things just arent as bright. Other things just act slow on my desktop. For example, when i use the MS Desktop Manager in XP, the switching animation is sssssssssooooooo slow. In the Geforce3 it was fine. I have a p3 933@1050, running on a CUSL2-C btw. I'm also using the latest drivers and the refresh rate fix. Is there something wrong or is it just me?

When I got my Radeon 8500 I noticed the colors darkened a bit as well,
then I noticed that the colors were a bit richer.
So I just turned up the brightnes on my monitor.
An i've been happy with the image quality ever since😉

Going between an XP 1800+, Thunderbird 1.4, and a 1.1 I have noticed the 8500 likes power behind it....

maybe it's time to go for a P4 or an XP?

Also the Memory on the 8500DV runs at 190Mhz(380Mhz DDR)
a bit slower than the vanilla 8500 at 275Mhz(550Mhz DDR)

But I doubt the Memory has anything to do with it.

Brightness you need to fix in the card drivers, its pretty simple. Its called desktop brightness.

Never used the manager, not sure about the animation problem. Doesn't seem like a video driven thing.

does the radeon have an option similar to what nvidia had, which was called digital vibrance? It some how makes the colors richer... and can anyone confirm my problem bout the desktop manager animations....

yea already tried that... kinda played around with the color..ill probably get used to it.. btw what are the best drivers to use for xp? im currently using the 6025

Those are the most stable drivers I know of, however
There are others that are supposed to faster in certain games etc. etc. etc.
But none that are more stable...

As for the color,

Yeah, it was weird for awhile but you'll get used to it...
