radeon 8500 shipped...?

There must have been a couple hellish long nights over at ATI within the past week.
Anand said he couldn't get the latest drivers for the 8500 when reviewing the new TiGF3s
And now they've shipped? 😕
 
ATi'd better get their driver right this time. Or I will never ever buy a ATi card again. They have disappointed me many many times already.
 
Someone should make a poll.

Pre-Orders, and those who will be recieving your cards soon.

What drivers you think will be in the box?

A) All OS, but not the latest Release
B) Win98 and WinXP, they are the ones recently released (last week?)
C) I think Im gonna get screwed!
D) I opened the box.... Theres a note from ATi, drivers in the post soon!
 
The driver issue is being discussed over at Rage3d.com. ATi is playing this one pretty stupid: even though the Radeon 7000, 7200, and 7500 are shipping, they are not being shipped with the latest Win2K, WinXP drivers. ATi won't release those until October 25...even though the DetXPs have been available for a few weeks now. After October 25, all cards will be shipped with these drivers of course.

I ordered mine last night and read through all 200+ posts. Basically what's happening is Dell is taking around 2 hours to get Order Confirmations out once your order is placed. The 8500 is not in stock as of right now....the Estimated Shipping Date is Oct. 5th for some, the 8th for others.
Next Day Shipping shows up as $0.00 but you'll probably be billed later since Dell doesn't have this In Stock right now and doesn't know how much to charge for shipping. Though other video cards are showing $11 for Next Day Shipment.

No, not with the latest drivers. If it doesn't perform up to par, return it. I don't believe Dell has a restocking fee for the Home & Home Office section
 
For you Canadian refugees like me, I found it at Oxycom.com for $381 CDN (~242$ US), not that bad.

hehe 😀, this is pretty good, only $6 more than the original price on ATI's website before they changed it... If we're lucky, Dell will make an error and send NFS4 and all you americans a Rage 128 card. 😛
