I'm now pondering on getting a radeon (the 128mb) version, though reading through some threads, i have a few questions.

Is it really necessary to format?? I haven't really heard of this anywhere, and i just think that if people had to format their computers to change a brand of video card, there would be more fuss about this sort of thing. I mean, its not like changing a motherboard. Wont detonator destroyers do it?

Are there any multimonitor problems?? Like if i have 2 monitors with different resolutions, its not gonna match both of them is it? I read someone's thread that it did. <shrug>.

Any other things i should be weary of?

Oh, and is $168 shipped (retail radeon 8500 128mb) from mwave a good deal?

Thanks.

No, it is most certainly not necessary to format your HD. I take it you have a non-ATi card now?

Well, it's always best to get those older drivers off of your system, and the refs out of your registry, but the uninstaller for the drivers and regcleaner should be just fine.

Yes, two monitors with different res. will work great, you'll even have full screen overlay on the second monitor. I love that feature.

Good luck. :)
