Radeon 8500 Linux Drivers

This is my first AnAndTech Linux Post (Mandrake 8.2)

Can someone point me in the direction of some 3rd party Linux Drivers for the Radeon 8500? I know ATI does not develope them, but I would hope someone does.

It is the one thing I do not like about my 8500.

Thanks

I think XFree86 (xfree86.org) 4.2.0 has drivers for the card. Other than that, there shouldnt be any problems in the console. You can also buy X servers if you want to, they might include "better" driver support.

The card works ok, but the name of the video card is not shown in the device list like it does for other pieces of hardware. I assume this is because it does not have a specific driver associated with it.

I was hoping to be able to find something that would better use it's 3D ability.
