glad i ordered mine in the early stages off this thread, hoping it won't turn into the dell/radeon8500 fiasco of last year

Just to add something else in here, I just found a $10 rebate on the Logitech Wireless Mouse. I got that and the 8500 for $159 shipped. This might bring it down even more.

Rebate Link

Not sure if it applies to a purchase here or not. I'm going to send it in anyway. :)

This one destroys gf3 ti200 if you use the card other than just playing 3d games.
play dvd with tv-out to my wega was awesome,
better than playing dvd on my ps2 with component out.

and try use 16x anistropic filter to play the ea sports games on your TV,
it will look better than a xbox.

Got this yesterday... it seems like it's the real retail Radeon 8500. Ordered some spare speakers too to push it up over $199, they should be getting here today ;)

Welcome to AT. I'm sure it's going to be retail then. It would be pretty obvious if it wasn't , I should think.

Mine should be here today I expect. They do provide tracking BTW.

Got my 8500 this morning. I ordered Sunday night (Feb 24th). It is a retail box with the DVI adaptor, a Half Life CD, and plenty of patch cables.

Better hurry guys, that $50 coupon expires tomorow.

Ordered mine w/ a Logitech Dual Optical Mouse. That free shipping makes this quite the deal.

Looks like the Radeons are shipping out of CA. Due to receive mine 3/4 according to UPS. So it looks like it will take a few days for those of us on the east coast. I ordered two floppy drives to bump it up over $199 and I received them yesterday from GA.

I just ordered mine. I also picked up AOE2 (~$5 AR) and Homeworld: Cataclysm ($10) to bump it over $199. BTW, wasn't there a free shipping on orders over $199 offer before? I could've sworn there was one before, but it wasn't there now. Oh well, it's still a sweet deal. :D

I have seen a lot of benchmarks that compare TI 500 with 8500. To best of my recollection they are pretty much neck to neck. I think I had seen the test on tomeshardware. There is a nice editorial in AT's video section about radeon 8500 to.

I really think it's worth 125 bucks. Just don't have that money to spend now. I will have to let this go...

for those who already got the card, is it the part
# as "ATI P/N 100-431001"?
i know the only retail radeon 8500 has this part number.
all others are just fake.

For those asking about the Radeon's speed as compared to other cards, there is a good article on that very topic on Anandtech. My take on the article is that:

  • The Radeon 8500 retail usually beats the GEForce3 Ti 200
  • The Radeon 8500 retail usually beats the GEForce3 Ti 500in theoretical tests
  • In real world tests, the GeForce3 Ti 500 usually beats the Radeon 8500 retail, though in some tests the margin is small while in other tests the margin is appreciable
  • The GEForce 4 (non-MX) beats everything

the Radeons are shipped from CA, I live in AZ, UPS tracking said I would get it Friday...they must be having a good week.

<< For those who've gotten the cards already, does it have tv out? >>

Yes, a lot of outputs: Video 1, Video 2-either DIV for flat panel or 2nd monitor with included DIV adaptor, TV out with S-VIDEO - 6' S-VIDEO cable included or basic shielded coaxial cable with supplied adaptor.

<< for those who already got the card, is it the part # as "ATI P/N 100-431001"? >>

Yes
