<< yes this is dead or never was. >>

What? Looks alive to me. Except, the Vidcard is $1.00 more than in the first post. If that kills the deal, then I don't know . . .

<< prob be faster waiting for compusa deal. >>

How? Wouldn't this deal be "faster" because this deal has an instant $50 coupon. You'd have to wait in the Compusa deal because it involves a $50 rebate.

Out of curiosity: since Gateway doesn't identify the cpu/memory speeds, how can one be certain this is a full-speed 8500? Their site is a bit unsettling in its vagueness.

I -thought- I could wait until the Next Big Price Drop, but this was too much: I placed an order. Then... pangs of guilt: 'phoned G8way to clarify the speed-rating of this card. Their answer... well... after 10 minutes on the phone with'em, I don't think they had an answer. Some days it goes that way! Good luck to us all. ;)

Is there anyway to confirm this is the retail version built by ATI? The only clue that it is a retail anything is where it says this card has a 3 year warranty. That would really suck if something like a retail branded Powercolor (clocked at 250/250) was delivered.

no u can't use this one to plug a digi camcorder unless u buy the 8500 dv which cost around 100 dollars more(MSRP)

the dvi out is for the TFT (flat panel) monitor that has a digital input or maybe use a dvi to vga converter and use it with a TFT with analog input or maybe a CRT(regular) monitor and do the dual monitor with Hydravision

D*mn this is really reallyyyyyy..... temptingggggg
maybe some s*x can make me forget about this deal

Damn, Gateway's fast. Ordered yesterday. Arrived today. Then again, their headquarters is about 10 miles from me. Retail Radeon 8500. I have no reason to suspect it's clocked any different that other retails. Still at work, so haven't installed it. Great deal!
