Ok, my radeon 8500 is weird.

heres the system

epox 8k5a2+ mobo
radeon 8500 64mb ddr by ATI
256pc2100 ddr
40gb 7200 rpm WD hard drive

powerstrip says clock is 230/230

i thought it was supposed to be 250/250 (i read some oems are)
or 275/275

but this is toooo low.

also is unstable. sometimes runs games fine for hours, though, wont run morrowind more than 10 minutes, occassionally stalls when just browsing, sometimes works fine for a couple hours.

Whats my problem? What can I do or check? Using drivers from my bros ATI CD that came with his 8500le, but have the problems with the new catalyst drivers as well.

Can anyone help me?

thanks in advance

You have the dreaded 8500LELE version. Try removing your case cover to see if the extra cooling helps.
You could also swap cards with your bro. and see if the same thing happens in his machine.

What size is your PSU?

Have you tried the AMD patch avalible at amd's website?

How about the VIA AGP patch? You can get that from the winows site. I would get the latest drivers and do a fresh format. Also, try to use riva-tuner instead of power strip. I had a lot of stabilty problems with my 8500 and power strip. Riva-tuner is free, so you don't get boot delays:) Also, what OS are you running? Are your updates all current?

Get the latest 4in1's...

www.viahaarena.com or your mobo manufacuter.

I know there was a known issue with the 8500 and the epox 8kha+, check the ati site and see what they did to fix it, also try the latest bios for your mobo.
