Radeon 8500 6043s FINALLY Leaked

The ATI 8500 & 6043 driver for WinXP works fine (including with the TV Wonder), where previously the 6032 & 6037 would crash/BSOD when running PowerDVD with hardware acceleration enabled.

OpenGL performance reported to increase by 10%-40% (not guaranteed)

Sounds impressive. Can someone test Quake3 and RTCW to verify the presence of any speed gains?

Also I hope these drivers fix the issues with Quake3 and Unreal.

Just tested the 6043. I gained 100 points on 3dmark2d1, 5-6 frames on Demo1 on Quake 3, and 2-3 frames on pumped demo on Quake 3.

The verdict: I will go back to the 3286. All channels on the TV wonder are all scrambled up.

vailr,
What program you used with your TV Wonder to get it to work?

I've noticed large increases in performance for RTCW, but there is a draw back. For the first minute or so there is some severe studdering in the game, you have to wait for it to sort itself out. But I'm hitting over 200 fps in RTCW now, much better then before.

TV Wonder using the Jul 2001 MMC 7.2 drivers. Have never had a problem in WinXP, regardless of the video card driver used. Should be 5 separate devices listed under Device Mgr/Sound,video & game controllers". For viewing TV programming, use DScaler, which works better than the ATI software.

File is named DScaler311exe.zip

Lower your AGP aperture size to 64 MB and buy another stick of 256 MB memory. Honestly, RTCW really loves 512 MB RAM.

RAMs too expensive right now, I was going to upgrade it, but I put if off for a week and the prices went crazy. The studdering is way worse then before, it used to occur maybe 5 secs into the game, 10 max.

JoPalm, the most recent "official" drivers are 6025, you can get them from the ATI website. If you go to Rage3D go to the forum, there seems to more positive feedback on this set of leaked drivers compared to before, than I've seen for quite some time.
